Moving WordPress from subdomain to top domain

  • Unknown's avatar

We have a finished wordpress site sitting in a subdomain (new.currentwebsite.com) of our main website (www.currentwebsite.com) that is being replaced.

The websites is sitting on server running cpanel

From what I am reading in order to move the wordpress from sub domain to top domain, it’s just copying files over.

But is there anything that needs to be done with the database of the wordpress website going from a subdomain (ex. new.currentwebsite.com => http://www.currentwebsite.com)

    Hi there,

Seems you are using a self-hosted WordPress.org site, this forum supports hosted WordPress.com sites, see: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

You can get help with your issue at the WordPress.org forums here: https://wordpress.org/support/

You may want to contact your hosting service who provides access to cPanel, they should be able to assist you in navigating their directories and moving the database/WordPress installation.

Please let me know if this answers your question, or if you need further assistance.
