moving WP from remote to local with XAMPP
-
Hello!
Not sure if this is the right place to post, but I am struggling and need a hand from someone who already did it.I want to develop my site locally, so I just did the following:
-download of my WP site via Filezilla on my desktop, and the database via
PHPMyAdmin
-install XAMPP and create a new database in the PHPMyAdmin environment
download the most recent version of WordPress and upload it into htdocs folder
-After that I register into WordPress, uploaded the database and now I am able
to use WordPress locally, it works but it’s an empty siteThe next step would be changing the WordPress installation files in htdocs with my real WordPress site. Is it ?
Because just changing the folders gives me an error 500
Thanks

Hi there:
It looks like your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted elsewhere.
Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers.
You can find more information here about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
https://wordpress.org/support/ is a great resource for sites using the open source WordPress.org software, and you can find support for that at: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
You can also reach out to your host for help with this. Since they’re hosting your site’s files, they also have access to those files and could also help you with this problem.
I hope that helps!
