Moving/Removing a Domain

  I purchased hosting services through bluehost where I want to build a WP.org site using my domain, mindonmedicine.com, which was originally associated with my wp.com site. I have already changed the namesavers from NS1.wordpress.com to NS1.BLUEHOST.COM (and so forth), but when I type minonmedicine.com into my address bar, I’m still getting redirected to my wp.com site.

  Is this because I still have mindonmedicine.com set as the default on my wp.com control panel domain management page thingy? Or is this because it just takes a while for the namesavers to ACTUALLY change? If that’s the case, how long does it take?

  It takes anywhere from 24-72 hours for a DNS change to make it through all of the internet nameservers, so that may be the issue. I would wait for 12-24 hours to see if it resolves.

  If it doesn’t resolve, then it might be a setting somewhere in your domain management here, and you might have to contact support directly on that if it doesn’t resolve.

  Glad to hear it. It may be a little unstable for up to 24 hours or so, but obviously it is underway.
