Multi-authors privacy

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi there,

I am trying to set up a private blog with about six people. I don’t want anyone to be identified to one another, and I want to be able to give each person access to my blog. I will be the administrator.

They will be able to post comments to each other, but I will approve all comments. I need to know how to ensure that they cannot see each other’s emails when they post and how I can make this as private as possible, so that I can give them each a different name to use.

    Thanks.
    Nancy

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Commenters cannot see the email addresses of other commenters, unless you give them some status other than simply User. If you make them Editors etc, they will be able to see that information.

YOU cannot give them usernames unless you also have access to all of their email accounts. Tell them each to pick an obscure username, not JimmyBobSmithersIV or something.

    Hi Raincoaster,

Thanks. I do have another point of clarification if you can help. If they have changed their public profile name for my blog, does this name show up on their other blogs that they are signed in with that email? I hope that’s clear.

No, but they will have to log out of their regular wordpress.com accounts, then sign in to their alternate accounts.

WordPress.com accounts are identified by emails so they would have to sign up for the alternate identities via a different email address.

The easiest way to do this is to use one browser for their “real” account and another browser for the account they would use to access your blog.

You are welcome. I’ll mark this thread resolved. But if you have more questions, feel free to ask.
