Multi language tags

    Hi,
Do we need tags in multiple languages in WordPress. I don’t know how wordpress decodes the tags and how it serves the material to Reader application when it comes to internationalization of tags. Let’s say we have two tags- Hindi and हिंदी which is nothing but Hindi in Devnagri script. So shall I give two different tags Hindi and हिंदी or just one tag is enough? If just one is enough then which one is better to give, Hindi or हिंदी? And if only one tag is enough then does this auto translation of searched tags work only for popular words or will it work with obsolete words too like Kaljayi and कालजयी.
Point to note that रण can be written in transliteration as ‘Ran’ but it becomes english past tense of verb run.
And what it all means when we combine it to very last point on https://en.support.wordpress.com/topics/. My blog’s both language settings are English though i mostly publish in Hindi script.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

    I’m afraid I don’t understand what you’re asking.

If your site language is English, it will only appear in tag searches for people whose WordPress.com account language setting is English.

If you want your posts to appear for people looking for Hindi content, your site language will need to be set to Hindi, and you’ll have to use the actual Hindi script, not the transliterated text.
