Multi side domain mapping question

    Canonical issue, WP multisite network

I have a multisite WP network that I setup, where there’s a primary domain, and then multiple subsites that I’ve mapped to their own domains.

I thought it was working well, and then realized the other day that the canonical url Google sees for the subsites is ‘[subsite.primarysite.com](https://subsite.primarysite.com/)’ instead of ‘www.subsitedomain.com’.

Hoping someone can help me figure this out? I’ve tried all sorts of canonical plugins on WordPress but that seems to be tackling a different issue.

A little more info: I’m pointing all domains to the same server, and then using nginx’s proxypass to link to the subdomains on my main server ([subsite.primarysite.com](https://subsite.primarysite.com/)). I did read on a multisite WP network setup tutorial that you should be able to change the site url in the WP settings of each subsite to the actual domain ([www.subsitedomain.com](https://www.subsitedomain.com/)), but when I do that and navigate to the subsite domain or the subdomain on the primary domain, I get a wordpress page that says registration has been disabled.

  • Hi there,

It looks like you’re in the wrong forum. It appears that you’re using the open-source WordPress software and you need to seek help at these forums:

These forums are for WordPress.com hosted sites only. If you want to know more about the differences between WordPress.com and the WordPress software you can read this document:
