Multilingual Plugin
-
I live in a bilingual province, which means that we’re required to have a website in both French and English. As it is now creating all content twice, in different languages, is a real struggle for us, and doesn’t make for very friendly navigation for our users.
Making a multilingual translation tool (like the WPML plugin) available would be a huge lifesaver! I understand that wordpress.com users can’t put in their own plugins. If it were available for an additional fee through wordpress.com though we would CERTAINLY purchase it.The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I completely agree with this request. I must see that this plugin would easier the administration of my wordpress sites.

I support this too but in the meanwhile …
We do not have FTP access and we bloggers cannot install any plugins, we cannot use Microsoft or Google translation widgets or any others, as they are JavaScript and it’s stripped out to preserve security on this multiuser blogging platform. http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/#javascriptHowever, I have translation on my WordPress.com blogs. There are two workarounds and you will find them here > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2011/02/14/translation-widget-for-wordpress-com-blogs/
Note: You can copy and paste the code on my Translations page and then replace every occurrence of my blog’s URL in the code with your own blog’s URL.If you are bilingual or multilingual and want to publish your free hosted WordPress.com in two or more languages but do not want to rely on machine translation that can be done too see here. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2013/02/25/wordpress-com-multilingual-blogs/

Timethethief, thanks for the alternative solutions.
In the meanwhile, I, too, vote for a better integrated way to blog in more than one language. More and more, I see such kind of bilingual/multilingual blogs, and I suspect that the numbers will only grow as time goes by.
