Multilingual site plugin on wordpress.com if my plan = Business?
-
I have read a lot of answers in forum, but is still not clear. Maybe since sometimes the answer assumes a free plan or since options might have changed in time.
1) https://wordpress.com/pricing/?ref=newdash-footer
says that there is the NEW thing in Business Plan to have plugins.
But I guess that not ANY plugins are possible.2) Looking at the bottom of thread here
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/which-plan-should-i-go?replies=6#post-2994694
there is a rejection:
‘that works only for the plugins which don’t require you to have FTP access. Plugins like WPML do and hence the Business Plan would be of no help :)’3) Now my question is quite simple:
Is there another multilanguage plugin (not for translation!) that would work with the Business Plan?– e.g.: can the Polylang plugin be used?
Can I just find a list of allowed plugins for Business plan? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
( The automatically inserted line “The blog I need help with is livingbridgesplanet.wordpress.com.” does not apply in this case. I am planning for a different site. )
-
PS:
“But I guess that not ANY plugins are possible.” has to be read as
“But I guess that not ALL plugins are possible.”
Sorry for my limited English skills. -
What is the URL of the exact site you refer to? Without it this thread will remain “dead in the water” so to speak, as we cannot provide accurate answers until the URL is provided.

can the Polylang plugin be used? Can I just find a list of allowed plugins for Business plan?
You can see a list of allowed plugins under the business plan at https://wordpress.com/plugins/
I see that Polylang is available under the business plan. See https://wordpress.com/plugins/polylang/

Thank you for the info.
I have seen this before, but was confused since I have read this on the page under the installation tab:“Make sure you are using WordPress 4.0 or later and that your server is running PHP 5.2.4 or later (same requirement as WordPress itself)”
This obviously is meant for people running a server.
While on the installation tab of e.g. wpglobus the text is different.
https://wordpress.com/plugins/wpglobusBut if you say that Polylang works then I believe you and guess that the quoted text is just a bit misguiding or out of date.
Thank you for the support!

I am not sure whether you have read my post above.

I think the response of @akumarjain above sounds reasonable. ( Pointing to https://wordpress.com/plugins/polylang )Please post the exact URL starting with http:// of the site your refer to using here.
No, I will not, – since the site is not live yet,
See what I have written above:I am planning for a different site.
I assume that the issue is solved. If you are in disagreement with the response of @akumarjain then tell us. If you are not in disagreement then there is no need for more.

I apologize for creating confusion. I wanted to express that no plugins are required on any wordpress.COM site regardless of plans to set up a Multilingual Blog https://en.support.wordpress.com/set-up-a-multilingual-blog/
Yes, the Business Plan does provide the ability to install most plugins https://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/ but I have never used the plugin that akumarjain provided the link for.
Polylang allows you to create a bilingual or multilingual WordPress site.

@scwf12, I agree with @timethief:
that no plugins are required on any wordpress.COM site regardless of plans to set up a Multilingual Blog
However, you had a specific question about using a plugin under the business plan. You can find more multilingual plugins at https://wordpress.com/plugins/manage?s=Multilingual

I just wanted to add that the Polylang plugin will work well here, if you’re interested in that. Our servers will do just fine with it.
Let us know if you have more questions!

@akumarjain
