Multiple approved prior comments before new comments appear?

I’m new to WordPress and curious about how to modify one of the settings. I’ll be requiring people to register to post comments.

I can require that comments are only auto-posted when an author has made an approved comment previously, which is part of what I want. But, what about changing it to requiring 5 or 10 approved comments before their comments automatically show up? If you’re trying to keep out trolls and spammers, someone could easily make one comment that says “great post!”, gain approved commenter status, and then spam or be obnoxious. Is there some page where I can hard-write this?

Alternately, is there a way to manually and individually approve comment authors? For example, if it’s a blogger I know or a friend, can I mark their registration as “allowed to comment without moderation” and leave all the other people I don’t know (yet) as needing have all their comments go through approval?

    Thanks!
