multiple authors, single post
-
is there any way to display multiple authors on a single post within wordpress.com? I know it’s possible with wordpress, org plugins, but I need to use the simplified version due to my own limitations and a lack of time.
Anyway, my students are working together on this project in class and it would be great if I could designate multiple authors on a single post for organizational and grading purposes.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The only way to do that is to type out all the author names on the first line in the body text of the post.

If you want FTP access and to install plugins or third party themes into a site then you will have to hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own WordPress.org install.
There is no FTP access and no blogger installed plugin capability on any free hosted WordPress.com blogs.

http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/There is no upgrade you can purchase here that provides FTP access and the ability to install plugins and or any third party themes.
WordPress.com built-in plug-in functionality includes (but is not limited to) the following: http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/#plugins-on-wordpress-com

Oh, how frustrating. That’s what I thought – I’ve been digging all day and haven’t been able to find a work-around. ::grumble::
Thanks so much for your answer, timethief.

Sorry to but in TT.
@ Melnos, I was looking for material on the web and noticed this, if you scroll down a little you will see a post from a wordpress member how they manage their class on wordpress.

That’s true but they will not show up as an author byline on the posts and I believe that’s what she was asking. If not then this post will be relevant > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2011/03/06/multi-author-wordpress-com-blogs/

I have a lot of authors on one of my blogs as categories, and their name show at the top of their post.

Some themes display Categories at the top by the post title but most do not. They display them at the end of posts.

Thanks, everyone! I will dig into these other posts and see if there’s a workaround. My main concern is the categorization factor – that it’s way easier for me to be able to click on an author name and see how many posts they have, rather than backtracking and adding tags halfway through the semester.
Of course, all of this is my own fault for not doing more research BEFORE launching the class site. Lesson learned. :)
