Multiple blog account: “new post” menu item only points one blog
-
I have three blogs associated with one account.
When I am in my “second” blog, a non-primary blog fpor the account, the “new post” menu item at the top of the page points to creating a new post in the primary blog, not the one I am located in.This is frusutrating, and has caused me to post multiple items to the wrong blog.
1. Is this a bug?
2. Is there some alternative button to post to the blog that I might be working within?
3. Is there some setting to get the top-line menu to point to the correct blog, namely the one I am working within, or reading, when I intend to make a new post?I’m getting tired of manually entering the URL of the blog I intend to post to, namely:
http://INTENDED_BLOG_NAME.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.phpThanks for your advice on this.

Are you talking about the “new post” button in the top grey admin bar? Mine has a pulldown in which I can select the blog I want to post to.
If you are talking about the new post button that is below the grey admin bar in the dashboard, that always takes me to the post editor for whichever blog I have active in the admin area.

I’m sorry, but I need more information.
Both “new post” buttons on my account allow me to select the blog I want to post to from the pulldown.

I have discovered the difficulty.
Hidden blogs do not have the capability in the top menu to display the associated HIDDEN blogs with for account.UNHIDING a blog makes the menu work as desired or intended.
I consider this a mis-feature at best, and a usability error, and a bug at worst. I think Hidden blogs should have full capability, as there are good reasons to have a hidden blog, which may be worked on for weeks or months before launch.

In my way of thinking, if you hide a blog, that is exactly what you mean. It is hidden from all places in the dashboard – my blogs pulldown, posts pulldown, everywhere.
What would be the point of “hiding” it if it were not then hidden? If it still showed up in the my blogs and posts pulldown, where would you be hiding it from?
Sorry, can’t see your logic. No bug as far as I’m concerned.

If I “hide” a blog, I want it gone from all the dashboard listings. If I want to see it or work with it again in the future, I’ll unhide it.

I’m with you. IMO this isn’t a “bug”. IMO it’s an intended and expected behavior.

Fair enough. I had conflated HIDDEN with PRIVATE.
Perhaps this is an area of better documentation opportunity, and user explanation / warnings in the control panel, as to the consequences of, and qualities of HIDDEN vs. PRIVATE.
-
@redtexture, that is probably a good idea on the documentation. If you confused the two, others can as well.
