How to switch domain mapping from one blog to another?

  • Unknown's avatar

I started a new blog yesterday and in the process of buying a domain name upgrade, it seems I have three versions of it in my blogs dropdown. I have built one beautifully, and now I see the domain is linked to one of the other versions and I cannot assign it to point to the one I have built. I can neither remove the domain from that incorrect blog, nor remove either of the two incorrect versions from my account. I need help setting up the one that is correct to accept the domain name, so I can launch it. Please help!

  • I can move the domain for you. Please tell me specifically which blog you want to have attached to your domain.

HI. Thank you for your reply. I am trying to have pairingmatchmaker.com point to pairingmatchmaker.wordpress.com, and it is currently pointing to a different one I set up in error.

  • I have moved http://pairingmatchmaker.com/ to pairingmatchmaker.wordpress.com as requested.

Please let us know if you need any further assistance!

Thanks a million for fixing that for me.

I see two other additional issues now, and I am hoping you can either advise me or fix them.
    1. In the “reading” settings, I have specified that I would like the posts to appear as a summary, but they still read in full form, and I have tried several times to fix it.
    2. I have also, in the settings, specified that I would like links to appear in a new window, but they appear in the same window as the blog itself. Again, I have tried to resolve this several times.
    Please advise.
Thank you for such awesome tech support.

    Hi Lauren,

    1. That setting impacts your RSS feed and email subscriptions, but does not impact how posts appear on your actual blog page. See for more information here:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/reading-settings/

Under Appearance > Theme Options in Chateau, you can change archive style from “Detail” to “Concise”. “Concise” style will show only excerpts in your archives, and on the front page it will show your most recent post in full, with other posts as excerpts.

You can also use the more tag if you want to customize how much of a post is shown in the “Detail” view, please see here for more information:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/

I also wanted to let you know that as a premium theme customer, you have access to the members-only Premium Themes forum. You can take your premium theme-related questions there and get answers and customization tips directly from the theme authors.

    2. Could you give me an example of this and clarify where you are changing these settings? If I look at your most recent post and inspect the first link “St. Francis Winery and Vineyards” in the Editor mode, the box for “Open link in a new window/tab” is unchecked. That’s the reason why this link, and similar ones, are opening in the same window.
