Multiple blogs under one account and the profile name
-
I have a few blogs on different subjects and want my identity to appear differently on each. Is there anyway to do this, or will I have the same author name on each blog as I have one username overall?
If it’s not possible to have different ‘identities’, would it be possible to migrate a blog from one account to another separate account?

You did not specify a blog address or reason for posting when you created this topic.
This support forum is for blogs hosted at WordPress.com. If your question is about a self-hosted WordPress blog then you’ll find help at the WordPress.org forums.
If you don’t understand the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, you may find this information helpful.
If you forgot to include a link to your blog, you can reply and include it below. It’ll help people to answer your question.

Hi I have the same request. I want to separate my secondary blog from the primary.
I don’t want my followers to receive emails from the both blogs I have. Actually, I don’t want the same followers for the secondary. The subjects are different.would it be possible to migrate a blog from one account to another separate account?
Can I do this?
My primary blog: http://redcat430.wordpress.com/

When we register a username at WordPress.com we provide an email address and it becomes our unique identifier. http://en.support.wordpress.com/email-address/
When we are logged into WordPress.com under that username all blogs we register are registered under that username. We can change the display name and that will apply to all blogs registered under the same username. http://en.support.wordpress.com/change-your-username/#change-display-name-nickname Then when we are logged in the original username will appear in the support forums only. The display name will appear then on all blogs registered under that same username the display name will be appearing as the author and the party leaving comments. If we wish to completely separate two blogs then we have to log out of WordPress.com and register another username with a different email address ie “Just a username, please” (no blog). http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/ Then we can invite that second username account to be added to the blog we wish to transfer to them. http://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/ After the inviting and adding users process is complete we can then transfer the blog to another username account. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account

Hi timethief – thanks for the info. I’ve tried doing this. The only problem is, the username I want to use is the one I have the URL for one of my blogs. i.e. I want blogname.wordpress.com to be my username for my new user account which I will transfer that blog to. However, if I try and create an account with ‘blogname’ as the username it says that username is already taken. But if I try and do a password reset for that username is says that username doesn’t exist. So, is it because I created a blog with the address blogname.wordpress.com that I can’t have ‘blogname’ as new my username? Is there any way to free up that username as it’s not actually being used?

Once you change a username you can never have it again. As warned to you while changing it.

Not true. Staff can sort this out if you contact them directly via the Help button on the dashboard.

@jamessm, please contact staff. Since you already have ownership of the URL in question, they may be able to sort this out for you.
@iphonist1-It does not appear that jamessm is interested in changing his username, but adding another username/account to match a blog he owns. May I suggest you read the discussion following your last comment on this thread https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/username-taken-when-trying-to-change-username-to-match-my-existing-blog-name?replies=3#post-786707
