multiple choice quiz that feeds into equations
-
I’d like to set up a website using WordPress where a series of multiple choice questions then feed into a series of equations (ideally within Excel or Sheets), which in turn return a ‘result’ for the user of the website. The equations would be more complex than just calculating a total score etc. Is this possible with WordPress and any plugins? Thanks

Hi, I think you are dealing with two different things here.
For the multiple choice part, I think you can choose from the many quiz plugins available.
But then you may run into some problems related to the math equation part, here is an article I found on how you can solve that.https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-write-math-equations-in-wordpress/
and also this plugin
But I’m not sure of a plugin that will solve the whole process.
Let me know if I can help you investigate this further.
Best of luck! -
Thanks very much for your prompt reply! The issue is that the results of the quiz need to actually feed into the equations, and the equations need to be used. The equations can be in the background – the user does not need to see them. Unless I missed something the equation solutions above are great for writing equations on the website, but they don’t help solve them and produce an output.
An example might be a website where the users answers a series of MC questions, and then the website churns through the MC results using a set of equations to return the users favourite flavour of ice cream (a completely arbitrary example). The equations used to arrive at the answer are just in the background – they don’t need to be shown or even known by the visitor to the website – but they do something to impact the result shown to the user. This is why I was thinking along the lines of Excel, but I’ve no idea if this is possible. Thanks again for any thoughts.

Hi there,
You might be interested in Forminator. It’s a form plugin that allows you to take into account calculations to create tools like calorie intake or ROI calculators. I’m not sure what specific use-case you were thinking of, but I believe you can create many different and unique types of quizzes that take calculations into account with this plugin.
Most of the features are available with the free version of the plugin, so it might be worth it to try out.
Here’s a link to their plugin page: https://wordpress.org/plugins/forminator/
I hope this helps!

ohhhh
I think I understand. So it would be something like a quiz not related to mathematics.
Do you have the equations or do you just need the answers?
Maybe this has nothing to do with what you’re asking, but it does make me think of Buzzfeed’s quizzes (results using a set of equations to return the users favorite flavor of ice cream (a completely arbitrary example). If so, maybe these articles can help.

If I’m still not getting to the point, please let me know and I’ll continue to investigate further.

Thanks all – I’ll need to work through the various options, but on a first pass it seems that at least one of these solutions may work! Your advice is much appreciated.
