multiple connections from same ip
-
Hy everybody,
I’m teaching CMS in a class of 20 students.
Everyone now has a blog on wordpress.com, but we are having problems with the connection…
Is it possible that wordpress.com block multiple connections (20 mac) from the same IP?
Thanks in advance
monicaThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Yes, that could, or probably is, a problem. I’ll tag this thread for staff attention and hopefully they will respond shortly with a solution.

You are welcome and hopefully staff will have an easy solution for you. There are more and more users that need to be able to do what you are doing.

As IP addresses become scarcer and ISPs change to ISP level NAT it could affect thousands of people.

As the world runs out of IP v4 addresses (the kind most people use) the long-term solution is to switch to IPv6, which allows a lot more.
However a short term fix is for ISPs to use NAT (network address translation) so that thousands of their customers share a single IP address on the web, the same way that you share a single address when you have several computers at home behind a router, or schools share a single address.
This means that many people who don’t even know it will happen to share an IP address and could run into the same problem that you do – even if they only have a couple of PCs on their home network.
-
Also each IP address costs money, so the more people you cram on the same IP address through your ISP the more money your ISP saves.

ok guys, thank u.
So, do you think that the connections problems we had are 100% connected to wordpress.com? -
I really don’t know if the problems are at wordpress.com. Only the staff can answer that.

To prevent spam signups, we do block multiple signups from the same IP.
If you’re still having trouble, please send the IP with any other details you have to support@wordpress.com
