Multiple daily views from So.America & Poland

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m getting ~4 views a day (sometimes more) from South America and fewer but regularly from Poland. We have a limited audience and limited traffic usually concentrated around the 1st of a month. These views are clearly a BOT.

    Can such BOTs be blocked?

    Thank you

  • Hi there,

I understand your concerns about the unexpected views from those countries and the possibility of them being from bots. As your site is publicly accessible on the internet, anyone – or anything, including bots – can view it.

While I know this might seem a bit concerning, please rest assured that such views are quite normal and do not pose a security risk to your site. Bots can range from search engines indexing your website (which helps your site to appear in search results) to more nefarious spam bots.

It’s only if you start noticing bots subscribing to your site or leaving comments that you might want to take further action. WordPress.com is equipped with powerful anti-spam tools designed to tackle such issues. These tools can help you block spammy comments and subscriptions, protecting your site from potential spam bot activity.

If you have any other concerns, please let us know. We’re here to help.

There is no need to block bots and other ‘unwanted visitors’. The wordpress.com platform is well protected against malicious bots and visitors. They are probably atracted by the title of your site “Love’s Point” … I think they expect some dating site. And really only 4 views a day? that’s peanuts.

If you really want to limit visitors to the people you want, you must set your site to private – https://wordpress.com/support/settings/privacy-settings/#private
