Multiple domains on one wordpress install – how to best set it up?

  • Unknown's avatar

Just creating a new wordpress install and i intend to have multiple domains eg http://www.domain1.com and http://www.domain2.com etc run off a single wordpress install. This is all to be managed by me for different product sites so there are no special access control privileges required for each domains or complex access requirements.

I was wondering if have to use any addons to achieve this. If not is there an offical setup tutorial method for this install for the latest version of wordpress. There seem to be a few older tutorials but i wanted to make sure how it do is futureproof and the latest official wordpress recommended method.

Any help would be appreciated on this matter.

Aloha jimmycov, Could you please verify the domains you are using? I am asking because it sounds like you are working with a self-hosted WordPress.org site instead of the WordPress.com-hosted version supported here.

Learn more about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org:

If that is the case, I would recommend searching on the WordPress.org support forums for similar issues. If you cannot find anything that works, you can start your own thread. The forums are completely separate from each other, so you will need to register an account there if you haven’t done so already.
