Multiple Domains – Trying to Create Custom Blog
-
I started wordpress.outonalims.com as a free blog. After a few years, I bought the name outonalims.com because I heard that it worked better with search engines finding blog posts to do that.
Now, I want to get into making my own changes. I would like to do some WordPress development. I have another web-site http://www.geometrick.com and the hosting tools allow me to do a one-click add on that to get WordPress installed in there.
Questions:
1. I don’t want to replace http://www.geometrick.com. When I create geometrick.com as a blog, will that operate in addition to the content at http://www.geometrick.com?
2. I like the name outonalims.com. If I develop geometrick.com as my WordPress blog but want people to see the outonalims.com name that I purchased, how do I do that?I think I know that I need to transport what is in wordpress.outonalims.com to geometrick.com so that I start with the same blog site (I do want it exactly the same, to start, then will make changes as I learn more about how to do it).
Also, I think I do realize that I will be breaking the links by doing that unless I purchase the package that fixes that.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Ok so let’s break down the steps based on your needs…
- Do you want all your users from all those domains,
namely:- http://www.geometrick.com
- outonalims.com
outonalims.comto got to one site that has both page content and a blog?
Or do you want your outonalims blog visitors to go to blog at geometrick.com?
Do you want to get rid of wordpress.outonalims.com and have all the visitors visiting outonalims.com? If so are you moving your hosting to a self-hosted environment or sticking with wordpress.com?
It seems from your statement that geometricks is self-hosted and the other is wordpress.com hosted. Is this correct?Alright… this will help us help you better.
There will be some redirect stuff either by package, conversion or manual…
Also consider that perhaps visitors typing in outonalims.com could be directed to geometricks instead of having 2 separate things…
and you could have content at geometricks stay the same and install al blog on a subdomain… like blog.geometricks.com or something… lots of options and lots of possibilities…

I would like people to type outonalims.com and see my blog. When they go to http://www.geometrick.com, I would like them to see my web-site. Up to now, I had kept the two separate and had planned to continue to keep them separate.
I had created a WordPress set of directories in http://www.geometrick.com because I’m already paying to host that web-site (and am actively using it as my company web-site). That is the only reason I’m using that for my potential WordPress development. http://www.geometrick.com is just a web-site without anything too interactive. It doesn’t have users – just lots of text.
Bottom Line: I want people to still type outonalims.com and see my blog with the same users and postings as now but would like to be able to start doing WordPress development without paying extra hosting fees on top of what I already pay.

Great. That is so doable.
- So first you need an install of WordPress from WordPress.org installed at geometrick.com in a separate folder.
If you need advice about installing, just ask. - Then you need to transfer/point your domain to the location of that folder at geometric.com
Remember:
- If you transfer it, make sure it points to the home/root WP folder as being the subfolder of your the main site. That way it won’t get confused.
- Also with a WP.org install you will need your own DB created at your hosting company… etc.
Have you done a WP.org install?
