multiple "feeds"

On my class blog I have installed a follow widget in my sidebar so that parents can keep up to date about what is going on in their child’s class through email. I would now like to create a global partnership with another class. I would like to use my existing blog instead of creating a new one. I want to be able to create posts for the partnership that the parents do not receive. If I had done this up front I know that I could have created feeds from categories. However I did not. But now I would like to add a ‘feed’ to my current blog that my followers will not receive in their email. Is this possible?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there. I’m afraid if they’re subscribed to your main feed already there is no way to prevent them from receiving new posts. Your blog only has one main feed, and all posts appear in that feed. You can have sub-feeds for different categories, but they will still appear in the main feed as well.

Is the issue that you don’t want parents to read the new partnership’s posts, or that you just don’t want to flood their emails with unnecessary notifications? You always have the option of password-protecting those posts and then only providing the password to the people you want to be able to read them.

Otherwise, simply publish a post explaining to the parents what’s going on and asking them to unsubscribe from the main feed and resubscribe to the appropriate category feed instead if they don’t want notifications of the other posts.
