Multiple gravatar question
-
I am just getting around to using gravatars on my blogs but am a bit confused as to how they work. Reading some other posts I thought it was possible for one user to have different gravatars for different blogs here at WP.com. So first I suppose I need to know whether or not that is correct. Secondly, if it is correct, how is it done? The gravatar for my my main blog (http://waven.wordpress.com) looks great … but on one of my other blogs (http://beautifuloddity.wordpress.com) it wants to use the same gravatar image. In the sidebar widget, I used the “custom” option and changed the e-mail to one different than my main address. But the image was the same and I didn’t see a way to add another image for the second blog. I searched the Forums and read a few pages in Support but only got more confused. Ideas?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No, each gravatar is associated with a user ID. You can have as many IDs as you like, though.
Blavatars, ie blog avatars, images that represent the BLOG rather than the user, can be different for each blog.

Thanks, raincoaster. I just ran across the thread in Widgets where someone asked almost the exact same question. Sorry to double-team the Forums. And just to make sure I understand blavatars, I can have a different blavatar on each blog and, once uploaded, will be specific to *only* the blog it was uploaded to? (Just want to make sure that the image I upload as a “blog picture” for one won’t bleed over into the others…)

Yes, that is correct. You upload the blavatar on each blog’s own Settings->General page, and it is specific to that blog.

Just to make totally sure you understand, the blavatar will only appear in the URL bar. It will not be used as your avatar. The only way to have blog-specific AVATARS is to use a different user account on each blog.
