Multiple hits on same page from one IP address

I have noticed that I have had the same page hit multiple times a day by the same user. One time it was over 1700 times in one day. Is there a way to stop this from happening? I am tempted to put a message on that page saying, Hi Canada IP address *** your computer keeps viewing the same page over and over, please stop.

Even though hardly anyone looks at my blog, it causes the stats to be inaccurate. And I am puzzled as to the reason why someone would need to view the same page over and over. Is it malicious or just a malfunction of their computer?

I have seen something about programming .htaccess to specifically reroute an IP address. Can I do that on my wordpress.com blog? If so how? Is there another solution? Preferably an easier one since I don’t know that much about writing computer code.

    Thanks.

I fit happened once, it maybe a malfunction.

If you saying it happened 1700 times in one day from same IP, maybe their browser RELOAD extension malfunctioned. There’s an extension for firefox that can reload a page every 1 second for as long as you want, maybe this user had it running by accident.

    The viewer is using Firefox.

    Hi there,

Are you referring to your sewnotwork.wordpress.com site? Our site stats do not reflect that level of detail, and we cannot view your stats that may come from other services.

Having said that, we have no control over who may visit your site, or how often they do so. If you had that many site views from one individual, it does sound like it’s a malfunction.

Yes, referring to sewnotwork.wordpress.com. I use statcounter to give more details. I started using it in addition to wordpress because I noticed Canada had a lot of hits.
