Multiple Images?

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m in the process of building my first website using WordPress and need some help or plugin suggestions please.

The website is a brochure website which will list their stock basically and i’m looking for a plugin that will allow me an image gallery for each truck listing, basically just like any ecommerce script where you have the main product image with the extra images underneath with clickable thumbnails.

Here is an image explaining what i’m looking for. You’ll see in the example that there is a single image on the page with 3 thumbnails of extra images underneath. I need these extra images to open to their full size when clicked on with a slideshow navigation to the next image.

Thank you very much in advance :o)

You did not specify a blog address or reason for posting when you created this topic.

This support forum is for blogs hosted at WordPress.com. If your question is about a self-hosted WordPress blog then you’ll find help at the WordPress.org forums.

If you don’t understand the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, you may find this information helpful.

If you forgot to include a link to your blog, you can reply and include it below. It’ll help people to answer your question.

    Is this the blog? http://webkinect.wordpress.com/
If so then you have to read the entry the support bot provided the link to above > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

No it’s not, i believe thats something wordpress.com creates when you create an account or something. It has nothing to do with my questions :o)

    Hello again,
If you read this then you have answers to your questions http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and we cannot install individual plugins or third party themes into them. Those found on the internet are for WordPress.ORG installs which run on different software.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/

No blogger initiated advertising, retailing or reselling the work or products created or services provided by anyone other than yourself is allowed on free hosted wordpress.COM blogs. E-commerce transactions via shopping carts and the like cannot be conducted on free blogs from and being free hosted by wordpress.COM

The advertising exceptions noted in support documentation are for high traffic blogs that qualify for and are accepted into the Ad Control program, soon to be replaced with the WordAds program, and for extremely high traffic blogs that qualify and are accepted into the paid VIP hosting program. The WordAds Program is for well established blogs with 20,000 page views monthly that apply for and are accepted into the program.

    http://vip.wordpress.com/
    http://en.wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/

I suggest that if these realities are deal breakers for you then your can hire a web host and set up your own self hosted WordPress.org install from http://wordpress.org/

I stated in my first post that i was building my first website using WordPress and then stated in my reply to you that i was not using the WordPress website to build this website so i thought these 2 statements would be obvious that i am building a website using the WordPress software, NOT building some free blog on this website but obviously not. At no point have i suggested otherwise

I am using WordPress software to build a new website. I have a host and a domain. I have built 100’s of websites over the last 6 years but have never used WordPress before which is why i am asking for help and suggestions on how to acheive my requirements.
I hope that statement clears up your confusion :o)

Ah, it seems that you have posted a question about using the software provided by WordPress.org on the WordPress.com forum. This is a common situation, but this forum only deals with those who are hosted at WordPress.com. Luckily there is a similar forum over at WordPress.org. http://wordpress.org/support/. Both forums are excellent, but you need to be in the other one.

Both time thief and the support bot referred you to the article at http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ that describes the difference between the two, but I think your best bet is to go over to the WordPress.org forums.

I’m just a user (of both services) who understands how easy it is to get into the wrong forum.
