Multiple Pages Widgets
-
Why not provide a drop down under presentation/widgets for additional Pages widgets like you have for categories & text widgets. This would help folks who have a lot of pages enhance the appearance of their side bar by grouping similar pages. PS: I looked for other submissions on this topic & didn’t find any. Hope I didn’t over look it.

This may be a good idea. In fact it does sound useful but I’m reserving my support for it at this time and this is why:
(1) At present we do have the ability to make multiple categories widgets. They have the option of being a drop down, and we can choose to show or not show hierachy and post count. However, here’s the glitch. Each and every additional categories widget we create is a clone of the first one.
I ask you: How is that useful? And what is it useful for?
Many of us are still scratching our heads and wondering when we will receive an explanation of why this is so.
You see what wp.com bloggers (aside from the VIP bloggers) wanted was the ability to section their categories into more than one widget and place them in different locations in their sidebars. Examples: Categories1 – News; Categories2 -Sports; Catgories3 – Weather. And that’s not what we got.
(2) We also wanted the ability to have “tags” that would direct to our other posts with the same tags on our own blogs. But, once again, we didn’t get what we expected. We got tags that direct to the same place the categories do ie. to the global wordpress.com tag pages. (The only exceptions are “private” blogs.)
I ask you: How is that useful when it comes to directing readers to the other posts with the same tag on your blog? As the tagging system doesn’t do that then what useful purpose does tagging achieve? And who benefits from this strange reversal?
Many of us are still scratching our heads and wondering when we will receive an explanation of why this is so.
(3) So until these matters of “multiple category widgets that are all clones” and “tags and categories that both direct away from our blog posts” are dealt with in an appropriate manner, I won’t be offering my support to the creation of any more features. Experience is an excellent teacher and experience has taught us that new features could have unanticipated behaviours.

Thank you timechief for your response AND your explainations for not supporting this idea at this time. I can understand your reluctance. You just answered a couple of other questions I had encounter. I am new to WP and still learning. I like exploring new ideas I come up with and seeing if they will work. I look forward to reading your future post.
