multiple post threads on multiple pages/menu locations

I’m trying to sift through the difference between pages & posts & how to customize their usages.
I’m putting together a current events/politics content website. I need to be able to have menus, pages & posts.

The main issue I think I’m having is getting the posts to show up where I want them to. I’ll have 4 main places where I need different posts to show.

The 4 Main ‘menu’ items are ‘Writings’, ‘Podcasts’, ‘Videos’ & ‘Information’.

I’d like to have static page that the actual ‘Writings’ menu goes to & on that page, I’d like to have links to each of the child pages. These child pages are ‘Creative’, ‘Editorial’ & ‘Essay’. I think each of these should probably be posts files of some sort (as opposed to being a ‘page’).
There is a page for all 4 of those menu items: the ‘parent’ of ‘Writings’ & the 3 ‘child’ menus. The Writings page has links to each of the child pages & it is on these child pages that I want the different types (creative, essay, editorial) of posts to go.

I’ll also need to add posts to the ‘Podcasts’ page/menu as new episodes are released: I’ll need to do the same for the ‘Videos’ page/menu.

The ‘Information’ menu, will be more similar the ‘Writings’ section: I’d like a static page that then has a couple links to post files/pages where I can update various sources by the project.

I’ve tried messing with some different customized settings, playing with some menus – & the main problem I seem to be running into is how to designate posts location. Under the broad Customize tab, it seems like I can only designate 1 page as a post location.
I’m pretty certain I’m doing something wrong:
Is there a way to have more than just the 1 post thread?
How can I designate the specific location for each category of posts?

    Thank you for you help

    Hi spencer,

Are you referring to a WordPress.com site? I so, then what’s the address (URL) of the site? The site https://ownsideorg.wordpress.com/ is virtually empty, showing only default content.

The 4 Main ‘menu’ items are ‘Writings’, ‘Podcasts’, ‘Videos’ & ‘Information’.

I’d like to have static page that the actual ‘Writings’ menu goes to & on that page, I’d like to have links to each of the child pages.

It’s possible to create a dynamic list of posts in a static page using Display Posts Shortcode, but an easier way to proceed might be to use dynamic category pages instead of static pages. Your navigation menu would then include top-level menu items that link to category pages rather than to static pages. See the Category Pages support page for relevant information and instructions.

I’ll also need to add posts to the ‘Podcasts’ page/menu as new episodes are released: I’ll need to do the same for the ‘Videos’ page/menu.

Links to podcast episode posts may be added to a custom menu as described and illustrated in the Add Menu Items section of the Custom Menus support page.

The ‘Information’ menu, will be more similar the ‘Writings’ section: I’d like a static page that then has a couple links to post files/pages where I can update various sources by the project.

The same advice I provided above for the ‘Writings’ menu item applies.

Is there a way to have more than just the 1 post thread?
How can I designate the specific location for each category of posts?

Not sure what you mean by either of these questions. They may be answered by the info in the Category Pages and Custom Menus support pages. If not, please try to explain more clearly what you mean.

Organization of Podcast episode posts might also be made easier by assigning a specific category to each episode in a certain category, then adding a link to the corresponding category page to a custom menu.
