Multiple problems uploading/changing images

Having problems with the simplest of functions.
When I try to change images in my posts (which I have already published), this is not possible.
When I delete one image, add another, press update and then view the site nothing changes.
Further, these images do not show up in the media library on the sidebar.
Do I have to create a new page to replace the one I don’t like the look of rather than attempt to swap images?

Yes, I am not sure. I can’t upload pictures at the moment. I was curious to see if anyone else was having the same problem as me.

I have since found that what I have been subject to was a time delay. This has now improved. Sunday traffic, I might guess?

It seems I spoke too soon. This time the image updated straight away but not the text. This should be simple. Press update. And see changes. But apparently not.
