Multiple sites like techcrunch

  Hi,
  How can I have multiple sites with wordpress like techcrunch have done.
  * All of them have the same theme
  * Posts from their other blogs occassionally show up on techcrunch too.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  The short answer is you can’t have what TechCrunch has on a free blog being free hosted by wordpress.com. TechCruch is a VIP hosted blog. http://vip.wordpress.com/

  What if I move to self-hosted wordpress blog?

  You can then set up the wordpress software as a multi-site installation and have thousands of blogs if you want.

  Do be aware that you will have to do all installation and configuration, all updates and upgrades, all backups and all troubleshooting. If something goes wrong, you have to figure it out and fix it. Figure a combined total cost of around $10 to $25 per month and watch out for really cheap hosting. You get what you pay for.

  Techcrunch is paying about $600 per month currently. Keep that in mind.

  This is custom PHP scripting. They wrote the program that pulls that from the other blog and shows it on the main site.

  If you don’t know PHP scripting, then you can either use RSS widgets in the sidebar, or you hire someone to write the PHP scripting necessary to do what you want to do. It is likely not going to be cheap.

  You can also just make an offer directly to those bloggers, who can email you the code for their posts.
