Multiple "Sticky" post order

  • Unknown's avatar

Currently, I have one “Sticky” on my blog. This sticky announced the death of my dog, and I want this post to always remain as the “TOP” or first post people see.

However, there is one, and possibly two other posts I plan for the future that I also wish to set as a Sticky, but I want any additional sticky posts to reside BELOW my dog’s death announcement. As such, I need to set the order of multiple stickies I publish.

How can I get this to work? Should I set the publish date for any new sticky “before” the death announcement that was published on September 10, 2014, or is there another way to do this?

As I have subscribers I don’t want to try publishing any “practice” posts to test how this might work.

Thanks for any and all help,

    Divinity’s Dad

It is a datestamp that determines the order of the display of posts when they are sticky or not sticky posts. All you can do is change the datestamp in the Publish module prior to publishing the other sticky posts.

I know you are not scheduling a post but I think looking at this images will be helpful: http://en.support.files.wordpress.com/2014/02/publish-immediately-edit.png?w=688
Click the Edit link in the Publish module and you will be able to change the datestamp and timestamp.

I know about changing the publishing date, but I am not certain which post you are saying needs to have the date changed.

Do I set the “newer” posts to a date before the death notice post, or do I need to reset the death notice post date?

If it’s the death notice date I need to change, does that post loose all its comments if I reset the publish date? I do not want to loose any of the death notice comments.

When I make posts sticky they display in datestamp order with the most recently published one on top and the others in datestamp order below below it.
