Multiple Stores on One Website
-
I have opened a website that sells shirts. Specifically we are selling shirts, hoodies, etc to a local high school. And the checkout page is customized for the school. It asks which impact teacher (homeroom teacher) they have so that the shirts can be delivered to them at that classroom.
Now a local elementary school wants us to sell shirts online for them. I know I can create a different shop page for their gear. BUT, can I have them put their items into a different cart and have a different checkout page dedicated to their school. The first difference is, elementary kids have 1 teacher, not a homeroom teacher. So I need a separate checkout process that I can tailor to their needs.
Is this possible?

Hi there,
This will depend on the ecommerce plugin you’re using, and what’s possible with that plugin.
I found a thread on the WooCommerce forums that explains you can create multiple checkout pages, and then use custom code to control the behaviour of the different pages. But WooCommerce doesn’t provide support for custom code modifications like that, so you’d need to hire a developer to help you with the code:

But if you want completely separate carts, not just separate checkout pages, I’m pretty sure you’ll need separate sites.
I found this article online that discusses different options for using a multisite network with WooCommerce to have multiple stores that you manage from the same place. I think that would likely be the best option based on what you describe.

But for more questions about this, it would be best to contact support for the specific ecommerce plugin you’re using directly. If that’s WooCommerce, you can find their community forums on WordPress.org at https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/woocommerce/
