Multiple Websites

  Hello. I have some questions. I have never used WordPress before, but I am wanting to design multiple websites for our customers. I would like to create one website and then ‘duplicate’ it. However, I would then want to be able to customize each separate website. Is this a possibility? How many websites can I have on one WordPress.com account.

  Hi there,

  To answer your last question first, there is no limit on the number of sites you can have in a WordPress.com account. And each website is completely separate from every other one with no intrinsic connection between them aside from belonging to the same username.

  But we don’t offer any functionality to duplicate sites.

  You can create a site with templates for the different pages you want to use, and then export/import that to other sites, but each site would need to be set up individually in terms of selecting and configuring the theme, configuring site settings, etc.

  Thank you. I believe there is an option to clone your WordPress site using the Duplicator plugin (only if it is my own website). Is that true? And if that is true, is it possible to make duplicates of a website and then customize them? Thank you for your help

  I’m afraid Duplicator is not supported on WordPress.com:

  https://wordpress.com/support/incompatible-plugins/#backup-plugins

  You may be better off going with the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) and another web host for your particular business plan.

  I dug around a bit more and we DO support the All In One Migration plugin. So that might be worth looking into if you are interested in hosting here at WordPress.com.

  And just to clarify, on WordPress.com, the Business or eCommerce plans are required in order to install plugins such as All In One Migration.
