multiserver on wordpress? possible?

Hello,
For a client with a slow server, I may want to put his wordpress site in multiserver.
The idea would be that even the database is duplicated and that there are synchronizations between the databases, because I suspect that it is the database that slows down the system the most.
Do you know any solutions and documentations that explain how to do this?
It seems to me that if wordpress was not designed to be able to do multiserver then it should not be possible, however I see people on the internet who would have done it.
