Multisite problems
-
I am brand new to using WordPress so I hope my question makes sense. When I did my initial WordPress install I opted to do the multisite install desktop and looking back I should have done the single site install.
I did some playing around building a few test site and started to fell comfortable so I built a site for my friends business and it looks great on localhost. When I did a backup of the site and then created a subfolder on my Hostgator account it seems to bring up the main site instead of the business site I created. I disabled 2 of the test sites on my desktop and tried again to upload and it still brings up the main site which is just a test site. I also think somehow by database is corrupt.
I know if I change my multisite to a single site I will loose everthing except the main site which is just a test site and not the business site I created. I do have a laptop and I am wondering it I can install WordPress on the laptop and import my business site to the laptop and if so what is envolved in doing that?
Do I need to create a new database on the laptop install or do I import the database from my desktop? I have countless hours learning WordPress and building this business site and I really don’t want to loose it. Any advice or help would truly be very much appreciated.
Thanks,

Hi there, since we don’t support multisite installs here on WordPress.com, you’ll want to head over to the support forums for the open source WordPress software at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ and documentation here https://wordpress.org/documentation/
Not sure about the difference between COM and ORG? This guide will help: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/#are-wordpress-org-and-wordpress-com-the-same-thing
