Music as background, do I need permission from artist?

I’m doing a blog about bumblebees. No I don’t want the “Flight of the Bumblebee,” but I’ve got a short clip that begs to have “Stairway to Heaven” in background. I usually load my videos on you-tube and then imbed the code into my blog. The question is…do I need permission to use the song if it’s only about 20-30 seconds?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

This is a sticky thing, and far beyond the knowledge of the volunteers here. The way the music industry has been lately (rabid, foaming at the mouth aggressive) I don’t know if I would try it. If they complained to wordpress, you might lose your site here.

At the very least, I would do some googling on it, or seek “real” legal advice.

    “This is a sticky thing”

    Lol.

I just wrote a request to the Led Zeppelin webmaster asking permission, but since I’m not even sure how to edit the music clip, I think I’ll just drop it. Too much trouble. I doubt if I’ll hear back from them, but if I do, I’ll report it here.
    Thanks for the replies.
