Music either stops playing midway through or doesn't play at all

    Hi,
    About a month ago the mp3s on my site got all wonky. At first each song would play for about 2 minutes, then stop and start again at the beginning. Now, about 80 percent of the songs don’t play at all; I click on the play button and nothing happens. Please help.

    Hi!

    I just listened to the song under the post titled “ELIS REGINA, “RODA”.” It played all of the way through on my side in the latest version of Chrome. A few follow-up questions:

    1. Does this only happen when you’re playing songs in Safari? Have you tried other browsers?

    2. Are you having trouble with all media files or only ones in certain posts? Can you link me to a post/page you’re having particular trouble with?

    Thank you for responding. That song usually plays straight through, but from Luther Vandross on down it’s touch and go. I just tried playing the Talking Heads song, and it stopped after two minutes, went back to the beginning, then played for a minute and a half and went back to the beginning. This was via Safari, the browser I usually use:

    Firefox comes with a different problem. Clicking play on Donald Fagen, for example, creates a thin white frame, or column, that started at the top of the accompanying photo and then went all the way up the page. On my second attempt, I clicked play and there was no column and no music; nothing changed.

    Can you let me know what versions of these browser’s you’re using? I just tried the post you mention in Chrome, Safari, and Firefox. The Talking Heads song played all of the way through. You can find the version of your browser by visiting whatismybrowser.com.

    Thank you for that link. The version is:
    Safari 8 on Mac OS X (Yosemite)
    And I have Java 5, which is out of date. Could that have something to do with it?

    That shouldn’t be a problem. I have the same setup on my side, and it appears to be working correctly.

    Could you try adding the preload=meta attribute to your audio shortcode like this?

    Then, please clear the cache in Safari:
