Music player malfunction
-
The new music player works inconsistently and each song often requires two or three clicks to get going. I often put a song at the end of each post, but scrolling down, after 6 posts, all subsequent music is not found. Instead of the player , there is nothing. Please explain. thank you , Paul Goldfinger @Blogfinger.net

My problem with the music player is that it usually doesn’t start up without a few clicks.
Another related issue: I usually put a song after each post, but after scrolling down 6 posts, the music player no longer appears.

Hi, I’m sorry for the inconvenience. The audio player being hidden when posts are loaded from infinite scrolling is a known issue that our developers are working on. I’ll let you know when we have deployed a fix for it.
I wasn’t able to reproduce the other issue you mentioned, where you have to click several times for the player to start. Is there a specific post where that is only happening, or is it all posts? If you have another browser installed on your computer, could you try with it as well and see if you notice the same problem? That will help us isolate the source of the issue.

Thank you Ian. It was happening every time I tried to play a song from all posts. But I tried to use the music player now, and it is no longer misbehaving. I tried it with Safari and Chrome. I will get back to you if the problem recurs.

The loss of the audio player is a major problem for my blog which contains music with every post. So readers who want to read posts older than the last six are unable to hear the music. This is a new development. Do you have any idea when this issue will be solved?
-
Ian: One of my readers discovered that if you click on the title of the post or hit the comments button, the post will show as an individual view with the music player intact, so all is not lost until you fix the problem. I just put up a post that advised my readers of this temporary solution.
-
Hi, that’s correct, the problem only occurs when posts are “lazy-loaded”; i.e., when they’re loaded dynamically as a user scrolls down the page, as opposed to being loaded as part of the initial page loading process.
So, viewing an individual post will avoid the problem.
Our developers are still working on a fix, but I’ll let you know once we have it worked out.
Thanks for your patience, and please let me know if there’s anything I can do in the meantime.

Hi, I’m sorry for the delay on this, but I wanted to let you know that it’s fixed now. Please let me know if you notice any other problems.

Thank you. The music players now appear all the way down, but still sometimes you have to click on the start arrow 2-4 times to get the music playing.
-
I am having major problems with the music players not playing or delayed playing (multiple tries) or intermittent playing or having to go into the comments section and even then it doesn’t always work.
When will this be solved.
Thanks Paul 2Blogfinge

Hi Paul,
Can you please send me a link to one of the posts where you’re having trouble with the music player not playing correctly? Also, can you please confirm what browser (including the browser’s version number) you’re using? That will help us investigate this issue for you.

Here are several songs near the top of Blogfinger that failed to play after 3 clicks.
1. Wassup: music by Junior Walker
2. Who are the people in your neighborhood. music by the Muppets
3. Just wondering. music by Willie Nelson
4. Over there. music by James Cagney played after the second try.
Thank you, Paul This is causing some concern because we have so much music on this blog.

Hi Paul,
Thanks. I believe these are the posts with the songs you mentioned:

I tried playing them in two different browsers, Chrome (version 35.0.1916.114) and Safari (version 7.0.4). All of them worked for me except the third song — the one by Willie Nelson.
I checked the Willie Nelson song, and it looks like there’s an encoding issue with that audio file. Could you try uploading that file again and see if the new upload plays for you? If that doesn’t work, there may be an issue with the audio file itself.
For the three that worked, I sometimes had to wait a moment for the song to load and start playing. If you wait a bit after clicking the play button, do any of those songs work for you? If not, what do you see on the screen? (You can make a screenshot to show me what you see there. You can upload screenshots to your Media Library under Media > Add New in your dashboard, or you can use an online service like Snaggy.)
Also, can you confirm what browser (including the version number) you’re using? If you try playing the songs in another browser, does it work for you?
