‘mx’ cannot be resolved (IPv 4 or 6)
-
Hi,
sorry if this has been covered, but am pulling my hair out a bit, built a website, domain was already owned and the email was handled by one.com
added in MX records as suggested by one.com tech support and emails all came online and seemed to work…. however… lots of hard bounces form Google Mail due to DKIM and SPF issues.
Tried various methods to fix and some made things worse (everything hard bounced) but nothing has fixed… added an SPF record v=spf1 a mx ~all but when an SPF validation is done it points at
‘mx’ cannot be resolved (IPv4)
‘mx’ cannot be resolved (IPv6) as both causing the Syntax errors, but I am lost on what to do to overcome this, I don’t have access to the webmail DNS (but I can get things added) but I do have full access to WordPress DNS but not sure what to do to help the issue
Any advice gratefully received

We can’t help as your site isn’t hosted by wordpress.com but one.com. As you have a self-hosted site you have to solve this problem yourself. You find info in the one.com documentation or you could ask help at their support.

Hi there, @ukthrashers 👋🏼
Generally, we do not provide help for 3rd-party services/tools.
Nevertheless, I checked it with the free DMARC checker called “dmarcian”, and noticed a few warnings/errors.
I suggest opening this link where you can find specific suggestions/instructions on how you can resolve the DMARC issue:
https://dmarcian.com/dmarc-inspector/?domain=unearthed-music.co.uk
(your DMARC policy is being discarded due to the errors listed in the report above)

thank you, I did spot the errors, that seem to be down to having multiple txt files – one for SPF one for DMARC and one for TLS… all things the SPF DKIM rules say I need.
I’ll keep plugging away, many thanks
