MX record problems
-
First, I’ve read over the directions in regards to adjusting MX records. While they were extremely easy to understand, they didn’t prove effective when I tried to adjust mine. I am trying to set my records to reflect those of domain.com, however when I do as the support topic suggests with the information I’m given, the adjustment never reflects on their end.
This is frustrating because I’m unable to receive mail through their site because of this. The mx record should be mx.domain.com with a priority of 10. (mail.domain.com to receive mail).
I’ve done this several times, but it never works. I would appreciate it if someone could please tell me what my options are. Thank you.

Hey,
It seems like your MX records are not updated yet and are not pointing to domain.com servers.
Are you following the steps mentioned in the support article here? Scroll down to the bottom of the page for a visual example. You need add a new MX type DNS record like it’s shown there. Don’t forget to click Save Changes.
To make sure the new MX records are listed and updated, please go to the Edit DNS page described above, and see if an MX record listed is listed for domain.com’s servers, with an appropriate priority.
If they are listed, it can take up to 72 hours before the changes are propagated and updated throughout the world. If not MX record is listed, you need to properly add them again.

As stated previously, I followed the instructions of the support article and yes, I also saved the changes. I also waited over 72 hours and the changes did not come through.
When I update the records, instead of it showing up as entered, mx.domain.com, it shows up as mx.domain.com.bmajorstudio.com
Is that what’s causing the issue?

Is that what’s causing the issue?
Yes, that seems to be the issue. MX record is still not updated.
Refer to this image and make sure:
- First column should be MX.
- Second should be @.
- Third should be mail.domain.com
- Fourth is the priority. (10, as per your requirement.)
Tagging this thread for Staff assistance, in case the issue still persists.

After entering as you suggested and “adding”, it then shows up with bmajorstudio.com in the second position

You’ve entered it correctly this time and I can see the MX record now pointing to mail.domain.com with a priority of 10.
There’s one thing though, you stated:
The mx record should be mx.domain.com with a priority of 10. (mail.domain.com to receive mail).
If they have asked you to enter mx.domain.com as well, you can add the record in the same way I mentioned above. Confirm the priorities of both.

Hi bmajorstudios, I see you added the MX record pointing to mail.domain.com. (Thanks for your help with that, ehtis!) Please let me know if I can do anything more to help. :)
-
Hi Ehtis.
Thank you for your help. I’ve added mx.domain.com in the same fashion as you advised. Please let me know if its correct in your system.
-
Hi bmajorstudios, I can confirm that you successfully added MX records for both mail.domain.com and mx.domain.com. :)

Apologies for getting back late, you got assisted by a better authority in the meantime! :)
Thanks Rachel.
