MX records and A records help needed for email

I have pointed my domain, registered with Homestead, to my WordPress blog, but my email with Homestead will not receive any emails. I’m sure it’s something I’ve done or haven’t done in the process of pointing my domain to my blog, and I would love some help as I’ve been banging my head against this for hours and hours! I took a snip image of my dns records from Homestead, so I have the info, but I still am not sure what to do with it. …sigh… Please help! Thank you!

Hey Dawn,
You need to ask Homestead for the correct configuration you need to add to your Domain Name. These are, indeed, MX and A records, like you say in the title of this thread.
Ask Homestead for what MX and A records are relevant for your email service.
Let me know when you get a reply and I’ll help you set those up.

Hi! Unfortunately, Homestead doesn’t work on weekends. lol So, I’m on my own til Monday. Great timing on my part. :(
I did take a screen shot of the dns records info, so I have those, but I don’t know about which ones are relevant for my email service. There are obvious ones with “mail” and “webmail” etc, but I don’t know if those are the only ones needed.

I could do that, sure. Since I’m not very tech savvy…a dumb question here…but, is it “safe” to do that? Could a nefarious ninja use the dns info to break into Fort Knox or something? lol If it’s “safe”, lmk, and I’ll upload it.

If you upload your image to your media library, only you and I can see it. As long as you do not publish it, no one can see it.
No one can take over your domain unless they get a hold of the username and password at your registrar. So it’s no reason to worry either.
This is like the number of money in your account, but that’s useless unless you have the card and pin number :)

Hey!
I have edited your DNS to use the exact same values as you had in homestead.
It should take effect in a hour or two. You don’t need to further edit your DNS, it should be fine now.
Give it a try in a couple hours and let me know if it’s working fine.
