MX redirection help needed for PTA mom

  Hi, I am a novice at this, and created a website for my school. I have read through many of the FAQs on how to fix an issue I am having, but I am afraid it just isn’t clicking for me. I am a volunteer mom doing this, and it’s way outside my field of expertise. So any help you can give would be gratefully accepted!

  I need to point our MX record to 1and1 server. The domain name hosting was forwarded to WordPress. (Don’t get too excited that I know what I am talking about, this is copied word for word from what 1and1 told me!)

  They told me the settings are:
  MX00.1and1.com
  MX01.1and1.com
  Priorty number 10 for both.

  Can someone walk me through redirecting this? I looked at WP help, and they lump so many topics together, I got confused and started changing my password…then thought maybe I didn’t need to. !?!?!

  Hi Linda. This is the support document that explains just how to add MX records.
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/custom-dns/#adding-custom-dns-records

  So logically, if we go by the example they give, your MX records would look like this:
  MX 10 MX00.1AND1.COM.
MX 10 MX01.1AND1.COM.

  Thank you Air! I just tried it. I hope this works. I think I understand that the priority number must be the MX 10 that you wrote twice. THanks! I had no idea what that meant. :)
