My question has to do with my about page. I write my about page and it’s fine but when I view it, it looks horrible so I can only imagine what it looks like to my viewers. How can I get the sentences to go the way I want them? Please help Me.

    Hey there,

The about page does render strangely. It almost looks like that each line has different adjustments like right, left or justify. When I look at the source code the text looks strange there as well.

Did you happen to cut and paste the content of the about page in from an outside piece of software like MS Word? Occasionally you can get a strange layout if you cut and paste from an outside source into the visual editor when you are in the WP-Admin area.

You may want to remove the content of the page (make a copy some where first) and start from scratch using the text editor of the page in WP-Admin.

Just in case you are not familiar with the visual versus text (HTML) editor here is a support doc covering the topic.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have success or need anything more.

I’ve reedited and don’t know why the sentences keep going every which way.

Please send steps and how I should do it. My about page looks horrible and I don’t know why. HELP.

    Hey there,

    1. Log in to WordPress.com
    2. Go to My Sights (upper left corner of screen)
    3. In the left toolbar look toward the bottom and find WP-Admin and select it
    4. Go to Pages and find your About page and select it to edit
    5. When you are in the editor you have two choices Visual editor or Text editor which are tabs on the top of the editor screen. Be sure you have a copy of the about page content then delete everything on the page while in the text editor.
    6. Try either copying and pasting into the Text editor or type everything in while in the text editor.
    7. Save. Then go have a look.

Hope this does the trick for you.

Also here is a support doc you may find helpful on using the WordPress.com visual editor. This doc discusses possible issues with copying in from MS Word.

I typed it with the text on. My about page still looks horrible. What am I doing wrong?

    Hey again,

If you have cleared the About page, while in the text editor, and then manually typed in your content and it is still looking like this, then you should do a little test.

You may want to create a new page of some sort and type in the same text and see how that page turns out. You could call the new page test. If the test page comes out like the current about page then there may be a bug somewhere. If the test page comes out looking ‘normal,’ then it is something with the About page.

Let me know what you discover.

Ok, this is really getting frustrating. I write while in text but I’m beginning to think it may have something to do with how I am starting new paragraphs. I use the space bar to start new paragraphs and was wondering if that has something to do with it. I might work on my about page tomorrow.

    Hey there,

I think you may have found your problem. And, when I look at the source code of the page that explains a lot.

Try starting new paragraphs with a return instead of space bar.

I did a rewrite on my About page and hit the return button instead of the space bar and it worked. I would appreciate it if you look at and tell me what you think.

    Hey there,

Wow! Now that looks better – and a picture to boot. Glad you got it cleaned up.

Me too. Then the pictures look OK to you?
