  Hi agpohl,
  There is no way to close an account on WordPress.com you can just change your username to a dummy username, you can read more details about it here:
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/

  Also, here is a staff reply which could give you details to consider before deleting your account, read about it here:
