My admin login-in goes to the .COM homepage
-
Hi Everyone:
I am not sure if this is a .COM or .ORG query, so I am posting both places.
I moved my blog to HOSTMONSTER.com, uploaded everything, and got a login yesterday of wwww.deborahrutter.com/wp-admin. I went in there once or twice to check it out, and successfully, I hope, used the TOOLS>export feature to move my blog info over to my new hosted site.
BUT…I think I made a huge mistake, too; now when I type in my login, I get redirected to the wordpress.com homepage! Yikes. I think I may have messed with the domain name(s) and created a monster. Not all the technically savvy, as you can see.
My ‘old’ blog of http://www.deborahrutter.wordpress.com’ works fine, but I have a set up for .org that I can’t access. Who/how can get back into the admin part and make the quick changes that I think I messed up?
Help! I am totally dead on this thing.
Deborah

Did you have domain mapping here to deborahrutter.com ? If so, the nameserver change you made to send your domain name to hostmonster can take up to 72 hours to make it all the way through the internet nameservers. Typically it takes about 24-48, but I’ve seen it take as long as 72 for it to stabilize.
One thing I suggest is, while logged out of everything, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart your browser and then try again.

Hi thesacredpath:
(your responses to other queries have helped trememdously over the months since I started with WP…thank you!)
I am not at all sure that I know completely what you’re talking about…since I could get to http://www.deborahrutter.com/wp-admin (and even see the new Thesis theme that I uploaded), and then…couldn’t, I have to assume it was something I did in wp.org.
In case this is NOT the case, I will try the browser cache and cookie cleaning to see if that helps.

I am not sure what that means exactly…I have decided to NOT have my blog moved to .ORG and had HostMonster reset everything today so I could start the process over. I am just not savvy enough to troubleshoot.
That said, now my http://www.deborahrutter.com goes to deborahrutter.wordpress.com as it should, BUT it lands on the ADMIN page (yes, anyone can go in there and wreak havoc)without the admin extension in the browser bar..Weird, huh?
Suggestions?

Don’t post the same thing twice. You were answered in the other thread:
