my already owned domain was assigned to a wrong site name.

  • I did some digging and noticed that you changed the username, but the site address is separate from the username. We have to figure out what happened to the site.

From this side it looks like you created thepowerofdandelions.wordpress.com two weeks ago, and dogagogdotcom.wordpress.com one week ago. clewshad.wordpress.com wasn’t renamed; from what I can see you just deleted it, but it didn’t have a lot of posts either.

So my best guess is that there’s a similar site under some other account.

Did you subscribe to your own blog, or do you have friends who did? When did you last blog there? Could you get a link to your most popular post? I’m hoping we can find a link to the old site somehow.

  • Actually – was the blog you’re referring to at http://www.dogagog.com all along? If so, that was never hosted with us until just now. The content for it was not on our services. It looks like you had other service providers. I can see snapshots at Archive.org, and it looks like you’ve had several hosts. The content you had last would be at the most recent host.

Is that account still active? Can you get in touch with them? You would be welcome to move the content here, but we won’t have it automatically because your site didn’t use our services til just recently.

If you can find it, and if it was a copy of WordPress, here’s how you can import it:

i’m sorry to say i don’t really recall what i have in the way of a blog. i only know of comments i made under the name clewshad. the two images i just sent you shows a comment by clewshad on the bletebzz site. here is the link to it: https://bletebzz.wordpress.com/2015/05/12/peas-in-a-pod/

clewshad (which i just recently renamed thepowerofdandelions) is the only wordpress account i’ve ever had and i changed the name of it a few days ago.

i never knowingly created dogagogdotcom.wordpress.com. it and another name with dogagog in the name just appeared when i pointed my dogagog.com domain from Weebly to WordPress also a few days ago. at that time the two mysterious sites with dogagog appeared out of nowhere plus the clewshad site reappeared. so there were a total of 5 names showing up on my account. if i look at some of my request for help over the past few days i can probably find the name of the one i don’t remember for sure but it was something like

    1) dogagogcom.worpress.com ??? (can do more research if necessary)

    2) then there was dogagogdotcom.wordpress.com

    3) clewshad

    4) thepowerofdandelions (which is a renaming of clewshad)

    5) and dogagog.com my domain registered through Weebly

there was not much on my clewsahd / thepowerofdandelions site in the way of content and it may seem unimportant, but it was important to me which is why i kept it since 2014. it is quite dissappointing to say the least. if after all this waiting and working it is just lost. i just paid to upgrade so i could finally link my dogagog, com domain and create what i was planning. i hope my planning was not in vein. Please locate my site. it was listed on my account up to yesterday. how could it just disappear?

  • Hi,

i’m sorry to say i don’t really recall what i have in the way of a blog. i only know of comments i made under the name clewshad.

I am guessing there’s one of two answers:

1 – Your site may be hosted here, but with a different link and under another account. That’s why having a link to an existing blog post, even if it’s gone now, would help us find what happened. If you can enlist anyone who may have read your site, perhaps someone still has a link bookmarked?

2 – It’s possible your site was never hosted here. Did you look at the Archive.org link I sent? Here’s one snapshot. Is that what your blog looked like? There’s not a lot of content there, but I wonder if that’s what you’re missing? If it is, you can copy and paste to the new site here. If it’s not the right site, again, the best bet will be finding a link to an old post, even if the link no longer works, because we’ll at least have the right link to work with.

Unfortunately, I can confirm the 2014 blog was never on this account: https://clewshad.wordpress.com/ never had any posts, just a default about page.

And https://thepowerofdandelions.wordpress.com/ was created just two weeks ago. It has a few posts from the past few days, which you can see here: https://wordpress.com/posts

Also, this account is only 5 years old.

Our very best bet for next steps is getting a link to an old post. If your site was hosted here under another account, try looking through your other email addresses for anything from WordPress.com. By default, you will be subscribed by email to your own site, so you should have email from us if you’ve posted here.

no no no that is all wrong. dogagog is my site and i have it through weebly and just had it pointed to wordpress, but i am talking about clewsahd through WordPress that i had from 2014 to present. then recently as we already discussed i changed the name of clewshad to thepowerofdandelions. it disappeared this morning around 11 am eastern time when aleone89 worked on it. please find it. i was counting on that site.

here are a couple more screenshots to show that clewshad existed in 2014 and recently

  • Hello there,

i changed the name of clewshad to thepowerofdandelions

Ok… so to confirm did you change clewshad.WordPress.com to thepowerofdandelions.WordPress.com?

If yes, to reassure you the content wouldn’t be removed only the site address would change.

  • Unknown's avatar

what i’ve seen yesterday and today has no content prior to a few days ago when i posted a couple pdfs or jpegs (don’t recall atm the format) of 2 poems. but i’ve had this site (clewshad/thepowerofdandelions) since 2014. i know i did not have a lot of content, but there was significant history and it did have some content and a lot of significance to me. now all of the content is missing except for the above mentioned images (containing the poems).

Yes! a few days ago i changed the name from clewshad to thepowerofdandelions . i did that shortly before having dogagog.com pointed to wordpress / my site ( …dandelions). at that time, the older stuff was still there. if the content has not been removed, where is it?

  • Unknown's avatar

sorry maybe my answer is still not as specific as it shoujld be. Yes! i did change clewshad.wordpress.com to thepowerofdandelions.wordpress.com

  • Hello there,

Many thanks for reaching out – I can’t see that content either.

Are there other sites that are at play and other domains? Also, is this content possibly at Weebly?

  • Unknown's avatar

is there any way for you to find my old clewshad information? it absolutely was never on Weebly. only dogagog.com is connected to weebly. clewshad was my name on weebly until i changed it several days ago.

  • Unknown's avatar

can gravatar locate old profiles? i just created a different account on gravatar using a different email but i can’t get anywhere. isn’t there a back up somewhere? this is really horrible if things were lost. i can’t explain i guess. it wasn’t much but it was important to me.

  • Hello there,

Ok, so I can see that you had the username clewshad, which was the username of the account, which was changed to thepowerofdandelions, so in terms of the account, that remains the same.

https://clewshad.wordpress.com/ was deleted and restored for you…

Do you have any links to any posts or content that you wrote on this site?

  • Unknown's avatar

no links atm. i also have to deal with a small emergency at home. i will have to return to this maybe tomorrow but most likely on Monday. Sorry. this thing just came up.

Not to worry, let us know when you have a chance. If you can think of (for example) any post titles as well, let us know so we can use all the clues to help find out where your content is.

Hi, now i’m able to try to answer your question. the most important thing about the site i now call thepowerofdandelions…. is that it indicated some important dates and i had a few links that i would have liked still having access to. I honestly can’t remember any posts except for those i commented on, on other people’s sites and that i had links to. some people who had some significance in my life and wanted to be able to stay in touch.

if you can’t go by this information, it is disappointing. and i have to rethink what i wanted to do by joining my wordpress.com site with the dogagog.com site. at the moment i am not sure what else to say. i’m still hoping the missing information can be found.

    thanks

    Hi there!

Thanks for the screenshots. However, the name that shows up is your username, which you have changed from clewshad to thepowerofdandelions. This, unfortunately, does not give us the address of the site you’re referring to.

Can you share the link to the post, though? If there’s a link to your older site attached to the comment, we can look into that.

  • Unknown's avatar

i don’t know how to find such a link. if that informaions was lost, where else might it be? would i have to contact those people whose sites i commented on in order to find a link? it looks like everything i had is gone.

is there another way to locate the links?

    ?????

  • Hello there,

is there another way to locate the links?

When content was published, it would have sent an email to subscribers and to yourself about this new content. Can you locate these?

Do you have an email notification of when you commented onto a site?

  • Unknown's avatar

i have a bunch of emails starting in mid 2013. 2013 is probably before i joined wordpress but from some time in 2014 on should be what you are asking about. how can i get any of those to you?

i am actually hesitant to click on anything i have because i am afraid that once i do, the links will update to “no information” rather than showing what was there originally. please let me know what i can do the get you the requested informaion. thanks.
