my approve, trash or spam buttons are not available. I cannot moderate comments on my site.

I’ll never understand why WordPress puts stuff in so many random places. Have you looked at “screen options” which is to be found at the top right in wp-admin. Check that “comments” (and probably everything else there) is ticked.

hi, nothing is working. I tried checking the boxes in screen options but I still can’t get this approve, spam, or trash thing to work

Drat. That’s usually all that’s needed. When you’re in wp-admin “comments” do you see little boxes next to each comment? Ticking the little box to the left of existing comments (for me) brings up the Unapprove/Spam/Trash etc. I presume you are the admin of the site with all permissions? Or maybe it’s a browser issue? Sorry I can’t be more help. I’ve only been using WordPress for 9 years (!?!) and some things still fox me.

I should have looked at the blog listed at the top of this thread first shouldn’t I?? That is five years old and empty. If you are you talking about a totally different blog that is a WordPress.org install I’m afraid you’re in the wrong forum and we’ve been talking at cross-purposes.
