my blog address does not read as a link in emails

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Well, unless you want to hire us to write your emails for you, we can’t really help with that.

Remember to preface it with http:// when you put the link in OR use the HTML functionality of your email program to make it a link like this TheCryptosphere.

    Thanks for replying, Raincoaster.
I will try prefacing it with the http:// as you suggest.
But please, remember that not everyone is familiar with how the ‘net , and HTML, actually work. In my non-technical experience, when I have typed any web address in an email, the format “www.etc” has immediately converted it into a click-able link.
So I was surprised this did not happen with my own, have no idea why, and thus contacted what I assume to be the best help forum. Your sarcasm is not helpful, and will not encourage other ignoramuses like me to ask questions. But thanks for picking this up and replying with some advice.

It’s a support forum for WordPress.com technical issues, and that’s not one. That’s an email issue.

I’m very disappointed by the feeling of aggression in your replies. I’ve explained that in my experience the lack of link-ability has not occurred before, so it’s hardly surprising that I should assume this may be something to do with how WordPress interacts with the web.
I had even considered that perhaps the reason is that I am using the free WordPress facility, and would not even have been particularly surprised or disappointed had you explained that was the case.
The reason I chose WordPress was the general impression it gave of a welcoming environment for the non-technical, such as myself.
If you have found my enquiry irritating, I would not hold that against you – you must have a million such exasperating moments. But when someone points out, politely and with an explanation, that they feel offended, there is really only one course of action that should occur to you. Especially when I have assured you that I am, genuinely, grateful for the advice.

This is the general link model:
    <a href="URL HERE">Highlighted anchor text here</a>

    Example 1:
<a href="http://jimcandraw.wordpress.com/">Jim Kavanagh: My work as an illustrator, cartoonist, storyteller and more</a>
Displays as an active link like this:
Jim Kavanagh: My work as an illustrator, cartoonist, storyteller and more

    Example 2:
    <a href=" jimcandraw.wordpress.com">jimcandraw.wordpress.com</a>
Displays as an active link like this:
    jimcandraw.wordpress.com

Every email client is different and we cannot possibly provide instructions for creating a link in all the email clients. Please locate the instructions applicable to the email client you use on their site.

Rats! I made an error in example 2.
Displays as an active link like this:
    jimcandraw.wordpress.com

If you have the email formatting set to text then most email systems will put in just the plain text with no link or the link will be stripped out – a friend has their email system that works like that and the links are always messed up from them

    Thank you, both of you.

You’re welcome. Also note that you can use Google search to locate the support docs for whichever email client you use.

Thanks again, Timethief. Of course I realise you can’t, and shouldn’t have to, write out individual instructions for every WordPress member who is not ‘net-savvy. I had assumed my problem may be part of a larger topic. As usual you have been thorough and as helpful as you can, much appreciated.
