My blog address is not right
-
Hi,
I am confused by the name on my site. When I first started my blog it was called Unique So Chic, I then changed it to Unique Art Chic, and purchased the domain.
Today I gained 2 followers, one of them followed (email visible only to moderators and staff), and the other followed UniqueArtChic.com.
I then received a notification from WordPress saying “congratulations you have 10 followers”. In fact I have almost 600.
Please can you advise me on the actions to take here, I want the only option for followers to be Unique Art Chic.com.
Many thanks Amanda
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Automatic removal of the address, makes this a little difficult to explain. The removal was Unique So Chic @ wordpress .com

Hi Amanda,
You own two different sites, at different addresses.
One is your site with the custom domain here: http://uniqueartchic.com/
The other is the uniquesochic site here: http://uniquesochic.wordpress.com/
Those are two different WordPress.com sites, so it’s still possible for someone to follow the second site separately from the first one.
One option is to change the second site’s privacy settings so it isn’t visible to visitors — that way they can’t follow it. Another option is to set up a Site Redirect so anyone who tries to go to that site is sent to your http://uniqueartchic.com/ site instead.
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

Hi,
I’m not sure why I have 2 different sites when I changed my name. Which would you you recommend for me? I would really like to remove the Unique So Chic, and just stick with Unique Art Chic.
Would a site redirect cost more money? Thanks
-
I think the best option for you is to just change the privacy settings on http://uniquesochic.wordpress.com/ so it isn’t visible to anyone else. (You can also permanently delete that site if you’re sure you don’t want to use that site or that WordPress.com address ever again.)
Site redirects are $13/year, so it’s a good option if you want to make sure anyone going to http://uniquesochic.wordpress.com/ is automatically redirected to http://uniqueartchic.com/. That said, setting that site to private is probably all you need to keep people from accidentally ending up on the wrong site. :)

I don’t actually see unique so chic WordPress under my list of blogs. I would prefer to delete it as I have never used it.
If I do that, where can I find it and also would it affect my followers? Many thanks

You won’t see that WordPress on your My Sites page, because it’s set to be Hidden. You can see it (along with all the rest of your blogs) on your My Blogs page here:
https://uniquesochic.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=my-blogs
If you’d like to permanently delete it, you can do that under Tools > Delete Site in the dashboard there. That won’t affect your uniqueartchic.com WordPress or your followers there.

Ok thank you,
Sorry to keep questioning, but I Just to clarify and understand. Somehow lots of people have managed to follow unique so chic WordPress. I don’t understand how they could as it is hidden.
But if I delete won’t I lose the people who follow that? Thanks so much Amanda

Hi Amanda,
The site is hidden from your My Sites page, but it is still publicly visible at its address here: http://uniquesochic.wordpress.com/
If you want to hide the site from visitors, you’ll need to change the site’s privacy settings, instead.
If you want, I can move all of the people who followed that incorrect site over to your site at uniqueartchic.com. That way they’ll be following the correct site. :)

Sure thing! :) I moved those followers over from uniquesochic.wordpress.com to the correct site at uniqueartchic.com, so you won’t lose them.
I’d recommend setting the site uniquesochic.wordpress.com to private or deleting it soon, so people don’t continue to accidentally follow the wrong site.
