MY BLOG BACK UP?/

  backup of my site data .. i KNOW your have instructions for this process, but sadly they are not specific and do not explain THAT WHAT YOUR ACTUALLY DOING IS A BACK UP OF ALL DATA FROM MY BLOG..

  the language is such that it does not clearly define what you are doing when u try to do a simple backup ..NO WHERE DOES IT EVEN USE THAT TERM ..SO ..

  i am in dire fear of losing my data .. can someone dumb down and define and explain in detail (which is not provided in the least on the download process it makes you think you are doing a completely different data backup) ..

  thank i await someone ..not copying the instruction from here ..BUT SOMEONE to actually tell me STEP BY STEP .. each line and how it SPECIFICALLY is for SIMPLE DATA BACKUP .. not a transfer ..not a deletion??? because those are the only parameters defined currently …

  You can follow the steps in this guide on how to export your blog content: http://en.support.wordpress.com/export/

  This will only export your posts, pages, comments, categories, and tags; uploads and images may need to be manually transferred to the new blog. The current version of the self-hosted WordPress.org installation gives you the option to import uploaded files, but the blog you are importing from must be live and serving images properly in order for it to work. So, do not delete your blog until after media files have successfully been imported into the new blog.

  If you are planning to export your content to another blog platform, it’s best to download and save your images from your WordPress.com Media Library before trying to import/upload them into the new blog.

  I do not wish to delete my blog. but i fear i will screw up and really do something wrong because of how your instructions are structured. Currently they relay a deletion or export dialogue. That does not convey a simple copy. I hope that makes sense. That is what i was trying to say earlier

  Based on how you have it defined ..even with what you just said. I DO NOT TRULY UNDERSTAND ..

  Please dumb it down even more ..i am sorry ..

  Do you want to store a copy on your computer? If so, I’d be happy to send one to you. Or do you want to make an additional blog that contains you blog content?

  Note that here at WordPress.com, we handle all necessary backups. If a very large meteor were to hit all the WordPress.com servers and destroy them beyond repair, all of your data would still be safe and we could have your blog online within a couple of days (after the meteor situation died down, of course) :)
