my blog changed – can not write
-
I am trying to write a new book review on my site but suddenly the set up changed and I can’t seem to figure it out. How do I fix or return to the old style?

Hi there – While it’s not possible to switch back to the older editor, you can use what is called the Classic block described here: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/classic-block/
Taking a step back, what you have there is the new editor. It is a block-based editor. Similar to building a lego structure with lego blocks, you have many different block choices to choose from to build your posts and pages. Here’s more about this new editor: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/

Hi,
I guess I am an old dog who has trouble learning new tricks. I was able to do my last post in the classic block form but I can not seem to get it again. It keeps switching back to the new editor. Very frustrating for me since I have book review deadlines. Is there a way to keep my WordPress site to remain in classic for all new posts? I might need more help than what is in “support.”
Thanks,

Hi Martie! There is not a way to switch back to the Classic Editor.
I see that many of your book reviews are mostly text, and perhaps one image. Once you add a the classic block, you should be able to write lines and paragraphs of text just as you would expect. Is the classic block not working that way for you? If so, can you give us a little more detail around the specific challenges it is presenting? Thank you!

Do I need to add the classic block for every new post? For example, I might be working on a draft, take a break, and when I log back in it is no longer in classic block.
When not in classic block I’m having a hard time finding, well almost everything: tags, latest draft, I am embarrassed to admit even how to trash.
