my blog confused can you help

  hello. How do I keep the welcome or home page up front. they are showing in the recent post. but, will they go into archives if I add anymore? I don’t want them to. I went to settings and selected static front page. the next thing below that is about. I was trying to have a little info as to why I started my service. I am still confused. when I see my blog page at the top right it has home and about and when you click on about you still are on the same page. I really tried to look in help first.

  Look here: http://learn.wordpress.com

  You can’t choose a static Page to start your blog on until you create a static Page. Sounds like you created a Post instead.
