my blog does not exist
-
I transferred my blog to .org and paid the $13 to have the traffic redirected. When I go to my old site’s address, it says it doesn’t exist.
It does, however, redirect when I type in a specific post url.
Please advise.

My old address is averylaneblog.wordpress.com
my new address is averylanesewing.com
My question is about the service I paid for through wordpress.com and the wordpress.com blog.

Although averylanesewing.com has been registered, it is not using WordPress.com nameservers. If you wish to host your site at WordPress.com, you will need to update your nameservers as outlined below.
The subscription for domain mapping an existing domain is $13.00 per year for one blog.
You need to have an underlying .wordpress.com blog URL to domain map from to the domain URL.
You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog and purchase upgrades for it.
If you would like to use your domain name purchased elsewhere and map from your free hosted wordpress.com blog to it, then you will first need to set up domain mapping by following these steps. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
After you make the domain mapping purchase here > Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades and do the primary blog set up it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

I do have an underlying wordpress.com blog URL: averylaneblog.wordpress.com that I did purchase the upgrade for $13 a year to redirect traffic from it to the new site, which is self-hosted.
I can log into my wordpress.com admin page and see that the upgrade is active and directing people to the new site.
My question is this: Why do I get a message stating that “averylaneblog.wordpress.com doesn’t exist” when I type in my old site url? I paid $13 for it to redirect to my new page / url. This indicates to me that it is not redirecting.
It does, however, correctly redirect old urls (urls from the wordpress.com) when the url is a post. Here is an example of url from my old site: http://averylanedesigns.wordpress.com/2013/07/03/how-to-draft-a-swim-skirt-pattern-sewing-tutorial/

Okay, this is not embarrassing at all. I just realized the wordpress.com site is not “averylaneblog.word… but averylanedesigns.wordpress.com
For some reason, it shows “blog” instead of “designs” on my admin dashboard page. I am sorry for wasting your time because of my confusion. I appreciate your willingness to help, even the hopelessly confused such as myself.
