My Blog has been Hijacked
-
Normally my URL is strategicmac.wordpress.com. When I go to my URL it is being hijacked to http://arlolyle.com/. A little while ago I was able to still see the content, however after a while I am not even able to effectively use http://strategicmac.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=post.
Please assist.
Thank You.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You blog hasn’t been hijacked, but maybe your domain has.
You had your blog mapped to strategicmac.com, however the nameservers for this domain were updated 4 days ago and are no longer pointed to us: http://whois.domaintools.com/strategicmac.com
Your strategicmac.com domain is now pointed to whatever this arlolyle.com is.
You should contact your registrar ASAP. For now, I have set your primary domain back to http://strategicmac.wordpress.com/
When this is resolved, you can set your primary domain back at Store -> Domains in your blog’s Dashboard.

Macmanx, I just got there. You are correct. Does this happen frequently? I use one computer, an iMac on my desk to manage my domains. I do this infrequently, and use passwords that look like 27bzzX4Nzzy or such nonsense. Is it that easy to get into GoDaddy?
-
I’m not aware of any security holes in GoDaddy, but if I were in your shoes, I’d transfer to a different registrar just in case.
-
I agree. I would be out of there in a thrice. I have had excellent web hosting service and support from A Small Orange and so has thesacredpath.

Thank You.
I am working on it as you type.
Between the horrendous website, the killing of the elephant, and now this, they’ve gone from obnoxious to highly intolerable. I should have done this long ago.

This is the second instance that I’ve read about here on the forums of someone having their domain hacked who had purchased their domain from GoDaddy. Pretty darn disconcerting. I’d be all over GoDaddy.

For now, I have set your primary domain back to http://strategicmac.wordpress.com/
staff-blorbo – the wordpress.com link still forwards to the hijack site – it behaves like domain forwarding is in place from the original wordpress.com site.
Something still seems amiss with the original wordpress.com site.
-
Interesting article – but a time honored way of doing things – sell out to the great Satan if one can get enough money.
-
@auxclass – http://strategicmac.wordpress.com/ seems to be pointing to just his WordPress.com blog for me. Maybe he briefly set the primary domain back to the other domain.
-
I’ve been seeing the blog at it’s wordpress.com site since macmanx announced he’d changed the primary site, even when auxclass said it was redirecting (anyway, wouldn’t we get the 48-72 hour DNS propagation thing again if the OP had changed it briefly to his domain (not the hacker’s)?)
-
Propagation doesn’t affect switching the primary domain back to http://strategicmac.wordpress.com/ since we’re basically just shutting off the redirect.
The actual domain name may still be propagating, but that won’t affect direct visits to http://strategicmac.wordpress.com/

I must have some ugly cache issues somewhere as I still go to the bad site – glad you folks see things in the right place – thanks
